Riazeda is a private limited company founded in 1965 by late Mr. Rahmatullah to handle shipping and possibility to start container operations in Pakistan.

In fact "Riazeda" were the pioneers in introducing "Containerized Shipping" in Pakistan.

Riazeda is a registered Private Limited company having their main Business House situated in Karachi, with marketing points (ICDS) at 3 main cities - viz. Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan. These locations account for almost 90% of Pakistan's export / import business.

Riazeda (Pvt.) Limited, are fully equipped with computerized systems and are operating on 'internet' in addition to fax and telephone facilities available for customer's and colleagues' benefits.

Currently Riazeda (Pvt.) Limited, is successfully handling shipping agency business of WAN HAI LINES LTD trafficking between the Far East, the Gulf, Pakistan and Indian subcontinent.

The company's work force comprising of over 50 employees, is adequately tailored to meet the requirements of running efficiency all the aspects of 'Shipping Agents' activities including 'Customer Service'.

Riazeda are well equipped with trained personnel to handle their Line's vessel operations efficiently and timely.

Their financial division employs qualified persons to keep their financial matters upto date, apprising their Principals of all updated financial information and arranging remittances to the Principals on time.

Karachi International Container Terminal Limited (KICTL), the first container terminal at the Port of Karachi, is Pakistan's leading container terminal operator. In the context of the international trade environment. KICTL plays a pivotal role in facilitating sea trade of the country. The Karachi Port is administered by a Board of Trustees, comprising Chairman and 10 Trustees. The Chairman is appointed by the Federal Government and is also the Chief Executive of Karachi Port Trust. The remaining 10 Trustees are equally distributed between the public and the private sector. The five public sector Trustees are nominated by the Federal Government. The seats for private sector Trustees are filled by elected representatives of various private sector organizations. This way all port users find a representation in the Board of Trustees.
At the time of independence in 1947, the Port capacity was about 1.5 million tons of dry cargo and 1.0 million tons of P.O.L. products per annum. Karachi Port is now handling over 14 million tons of liquid cargo and 12 million tons of dry cargo, including 652,315 TEUs which constitute about 80% of import/ export of the country.

Total Area of berths 6-9 is 220,000 square meters. Berths newly constructed by KPT with a planned depth of 13.5m and quay wall of 600 meters.
Pakistan International Container Terminal was formed as the Terminal Operating Company and dedicated container terminal operations commenced on August 9th , 2002.
PICT has taken possession of approximately 208,000 square meters of area and completed necessary civil works and office construction for the smooth functioning of the Terminal. The Terminal now possesses dedicated Custom Facilities, Customer Services with one window facilities – including collection of KPT Wharfage dues, Operations Office, Communications Centre and round the clock Private Terminal Security.
PICT is providing services to 4 liner shipping lines weekly (on average) and handling container volumes of over 240,000 TEU’s annually.
PICT has 200 Reefer Points Operational and we are expanding the capacity further.
PICT has acquired the following new equipment for the timely completion of Phase 1 which was achieved in March 2004:

4 Rubber Tyred Gantries
4 Reach Stackers, 1 Top Lifter
2 Empty Container Handlers
2 Container Stuffing Forklifts
10 Tractor Units
20 Trailer Units, 5 Service Vehicles
In addition to the above, PICT had earlier acquired the following container handling equipment to commence terminal operations in August 2002:
2 Mobile Harbour Cranes
3 Reach Stackers + 3 Front Loaders + 1 Empty Container Handler + 2 Fork Lifts
10 Tractors (Prime Movers) + 10 Trailers
PICT also has installed a self-sufficient Power Plant of 4.8 MW capacity to provide round-the-clock power to meet the needs of the Terminal.
PICT is the first container terminal in Pakistan to be listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange. PICT also has the privilege of being financed by the International Finance Corporation (a member of the World Bank Group) and the OPEC Fund for International Development.
PICT is the only Pakistani majority-owned container terminal in Pakistan.

Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) is Pakistan's first Dedicated and Most Modern International Container Terminal built at Port Muhammad Bin Qasim on a Build/Own/Operate (B.O.O.) basis.
QICT was a consortium whose members included P&O Ports, Mackinnons Pakistan, P&O Containers Pakistan Limited, the Commonwealth Development Corporation of UK, and the Pakistan-Kuwait Investment Company. The total equity of this consoritum was Rs.455 million. Subsequently P&O Ports demonstrating their commitment to the project, bought out CDC and Pak-Kuwait.
The equity of the Company was later enhanced to Rs.1.1 billion, which was fully subscribed by P&O Ports. Presently P&O Ports has the major share holding and other share holders include ITHL and APM Terminals.
Location Of Terminal
QICT is situated at berths 5,6 and 7 at Port Muhammad Bin Qasim. The total area of the terminal is 240,000 sq. meters surrounded by fast developing industrial estates which include:

The location of the Terminal outside city boundaries negates the requirement for containers to be transported through the city for upcountry destinations as well as ensures that industries located within and a short distance from the Port area have the added advantage of savings on transportation and other costs in exporting/importing their raw materials.
